The Baltimore Ravens may not have signed Lamar Jackson yet, but they seem to be putting the pieces around him in case he does decide to return.
The team just signed former first-round wide receiver Nelson Agholor to a one-year contract worth $3.25 million with incentives, which could lead to him making an extra $3 million. Terms of the deal were reported by ProFootballTalk.
Agholor started his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played five years for the Eagles before moving on to the Las Vegas Raiders. Then, he went to the New England Patriots where he had spent the last two years.
His best year, however, was with the Raiders in 2020. Aghlor recorded almost 900 yards receiving and eight touchdowns.
The Ravens struggled offensively without Lamar Jackson and didn’t have a lot of weapons surrounding him to pick up the pace once injuries sidelined the 2019 NFL MVP. Baltimore may be looking to shore up its offense during the off-season through the draft as well. The team has had more luck defensively through the draft than offensively, especially of late.
Although the focus has been on who will start under center for the Ravens, the focus for fans may be who will be catching the ball from Jackson. Or the next quarterback to take his place if the Ravens don’t resign him.
Looks like the team has gotten off to a good start by signing Agholor.
