During Sunday afternoon’s game against the Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns star wide receiver Amari Cooper thought he had a long touchdown catch to help stretch his team’s lead, but a horrible mistake from one of the game’s referees cost him a chance.

During the play, Amari Cooper made a catch close to the sideline and quickly turned the ball upfield, breaking a tackle from one Tennessee Titans defender and juking another Titans receiver in the open field before reaching the end zone for a touchdown. Unfortunately for Cooper and the Browns, however, the play was called back.

Shortly after Cooper caught the ball, the referee blew the play dead, ruling that Cooper had stepped on the sideline and was out of bounds. But as the replay shows, Cooper really wasn’t anywhere close to going out of bounds.

Since the referee blew the play dead in his initial call, a video review could not correct the call. So as a result, the Browns and Cooper were shorted of a big play that resulted in a touchdown.

The Browns went on to score 13 points in the half and took a two-score lead into halftime against the Titans anyway, but it’s safe to say Cooper and the team weren’t happy about this.
