Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan has put on a little weight since last season after having a Lap Band removed from his stomach.

The coach reportedly underwent surgery to have the Lap Band removed as a show of solidarity for his brother, Rob Ryan. Rob also had a Lap Band removed after a near-death experience. Of course, there may be a slight hint of superstition attached to the Lap Band removal as well.

“I told him, we’ll figure this out together (without the Lap Band),’’ Rex Ryan said, according to The New York Post. “Plus, I won more games without it than did with it in.’’

You may recall the head coach of the Buffalo Bills previously had a Lap Band placed in his stomach to help control how much he was consuming. The results were noticeable, as Ryan quickly shed more than 100 pounds from his body. Now, with the Lap Band removed, some of the weight is being put back on. Ryan told The New York Post he has gained about 30 pounds since having the Lap Band removed.

The time with the Lap Band was beneficial to Rex Ryan though, who says he has learned how to manage his eating in a more responsible and healthy way. Even without the Lap Band, and despite the recent weight gain, Ryan is confident he will be able to manage his weight better moving forward.
