It’s been a few days since the fallout of the Jack Del Rio comments about the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol and although Washington Commanders head coach Ron Riveria hit Del Rio with a hefty $100,000 fine over his comments, some people are still angry at the defensive coordinator for what he said and think more should be done.
ESPN commentator Robert Griffin III thinks Del Rio’s “dustup” comments were not only disgusting but uninformed. In a long Twitter thread, RGIII explained why he is still upset.
“Jack Del Rio said he is all about love and respect, but comparing the protest over the wrongful public killing of George Floyd to the violent act of treason at the Capital on Jan. 6th isn’t just DISRESPECTFUL AND WILD. It’s irresponsible,” wrote Griffin.

“When you have a platform to encourage change you don’t diminish the events on Jan. 6th to a “dust up” while trying to change the narrative on the George Floyd protest by dumbing them down to looting and destroying businesses. It’s insensitive and uninformed.”

Griffin continued and even said that African-Americans are tired of this kind of treatment and that it may be hard for Del Rio’s Black players to play hard for him again.
NFL Players are paid to do their job not to like each other or their coaches. So the players will show up and go the extra mile for the guy next to them, their family and their own sense of pride. But they won’t be giving any extra effort for Jack Del Rio.
