With the New York Jets’ 16-12 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday dropping them to 4-5 on the season, many have wondered if head coach Robert Saleh would make a change at quarterback.

But as it turns out, the Jets’ third-year coach is sticking with the status quo, revealing to reporters that Zach Wilson will remain New York’s starting quarterback heading into its Week 11 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

“He’s actually playing pretty well,” Saleh said, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

While Wilson originally entered the 2023 campaign slated to be the Jets’ backup quarterback, he was thrust back into the starting lineup after Aaron Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles four offensive snaps into the season. In nine games this season, the No. 2 overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft has completed 59.8% of his passes for 1,863 yards, five touchdowns and six interceptions, while adding 184 rushing yards on 29 attempts.

Although Wilson’s play has improved from his previous two seasons, poor performances in losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Raiders in the last two weeks have led to speculation regarding his job security. In addition to Rodgers — who is eyeing an improbable mid-December return — the Jets also have quarterback Tim Boyle on their roster and Trevor Siemian on their practice squad.

Following Saleh’s announcement that he is sticking with Wilson at quarterback, many took to social media to weigh in.
