The NFL made some significant changes to the 2023 Pro Bowl, replacing the normal game with a skills competition and flag football game on the Sunday before the Super Bowl. The event was marred by an injury to Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett and the ratings didn’t exactly set the world on fire. However, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell appears to be pretty happy with things and isn’t looking back on the league’s desire to move on from the traditional setup.

“I give our team…incredible kudos for reevaluating everything we did there and coming up with a concept that our players love. That they were part of making those changes. When I was there on Thursday, the players were wonderful, they loved it. They were embracing it. They thought this was a great format. I loved watching it because you get to see the players’ personalities. You get to see their faces. You get to see them compete,” said Goodell during his Super Bowl media day appearance.
I think we have a lot to build on there. I don’t us going back in any way. I think this is the future for us. Flag [football] is such an important initiative for us.”
Roger Goodell was quite pleased with last week’s Pro Bowl Games and said, “there’s a lot to build on there and I don’t see us going back.”
