On Wednesday, the Denver Broncos made a pretty big decision regarding starting quarterback Russell Wilson as the team decided to bench their quarterback for the final two games of the season, presumably to make sure he is healthy so as not to trigger any clause that would require them to keep him on the roster. It almost surely marks the end of his Broncos career, and he reacted to the news on Thursday night.

Late on Wednesday night, well after the news broke, Russell Wilson took to social media to offer a clear and simple response to everything that happened during the day.

“God’s got me. Looking forward to what’s next,” Wilson said in a post on X, the social media website that was formerly known as Twitter.

It’s an optimistic message from Wilson given everything that had happened over the past few hours, and the NFL world had a lot to say about his statement on social media.

With Wilson benched, the team will now turn to Jarrett Stidham for the final two games of the season before they make their final determination about the future of the quarterback position. We’ll have to see what Sean Payton envisions at the position in the future.
