When the new league season begins on March 13, the Denver Broncos will officially release quarterback Russell Wilson after, ending his tenure with the team after two disappointing seasons. But while he won’t be in Denver, the Broncos may not be completely done with their former quarterback.

Cecil Lamey of DenverSports.com reported on Thursday that Wilson and his camp are both interested in the quarterback staying in the AFC West and signing with the Las Vegas Raiders.

“I’m told Russell Wilson is open to signing with the Raiders – and he’s being advised to do so by those close to him,” Lamey posted on Twitter/X. “Broncos could be facing their former quarterback 2X per year.”

Vegas is certainly in the market for a quarterback.

Jimmy Garoppolo joined the Raiders ahead in 2023 and had a lackluster year in his first — and likely only — year with the team. He played in only seven games, starting six of them. While Vegas was 3-3 in his starts, Garoppolo struggled mightily, completing 65.1% of his passes for 1,205 yards with seven touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 77.7 passer rating.

The issue wasn’t only Garoppolo, either, as the Raiders finished the season in the bottom 10 of the league in both passing yards and yards per attempt, narrowly avoided the bottom 10 in touchdown passes thrown and threw the sixth-most interceptions in the league.

But while the Raiders are looking for an upgrade at quarterback, would Wilson provide that?

Wilson also struggled in Denver. Over two seasons with the Broncos, he completed 63.3% of his passes for 6,594 yards with 42 touchdowns, 19 interceptions and a 92.9 passer rating. More notably, Wilson, who consistently won in his time with the Seattle Seahawks, had an 11-19 record in Denver, while the Broncos went 13-21 overall.
