During Saturday night’s loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Duke Blue Devils quarterback Riley Leonard was injured on the game’s final play. And Notre Dame quarterback Sam Hartman was worried about him.

In his postgame comments, Sam Hartman quickly made it clear that one of the most important things on his mind was the health of Duke quarterback Riley Leonard.

“You know, I’m really just thinking about Riley,” Harman said after the game according to On3. “I know, that kid’s a hell of a player and obviously I don’t know what he’s going through. But I’ve been there and I’m just thinking about him and hope he’s alright.”

Leonard was seen walking in crutches after the game, but Hartman hops that the injury is minor.

“I’m just thinking about him man,” Hartman said. “There’s nothing I can say it’s gonna change the way he feels you know, that’s it’s gonna be a long week and hopefully, you know, anything that he had happened to him injury wise is minor.

“I don’t know what he’s feeling but I’ve been there and it’s a dark place you can go to and he played a [heck] of a game. He’s a player. He’s got to keep going.”

Hartman even ended his press conference a bit early so he could go and check on Riley. It was a pretty clear showing of sportsmanship.
