Tyreek Hill has had an insane 2022 season thus far. The Miami Dolphins wide receiver has already piled up receptions and yards by the barrel. Hill has 69 receptions and 961 yards through his first eight games as a Dolphin. The team’s highlighted off-season acquisition is paying off big time for them as they look to challenge Buffalo in the AFC East.

That being said, does Tyreek have the best hands in the league? That question has been posed by an NFL legend. Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver and NFL Network analyst Steve Smith recently asked this of Hill. Tyreek made an official response to that with a video on his Instagram:

Hill was so compelled to respond to the discussion he caught passes with his hands lathered. Both maple syrup and butter were used and he did go on to catch the passes. That’s a high level of commitment and it’s one that didn’t go unnoticed. Smith found the video and made it known:

“You have my number and you can call me,” Smith tweeted on Thursday. Less than 24 hours later, the former Panther issued a challenge to Tyreek on Twitter:

“If you want me to say that you have the best hands in the league, I have a list of demands,” Smith said in a video published on his Twitter before going into his challenge.

Steve Smith’s demands:

  • Tyreek must catch a football from a jug machine, going 22 mph, with his hands slathered with gravy and crumbled up biscuits or duck fat, lard, olive oil, and baby oil, on his hands, and then grape or apricot preserves
  • Get to 25 mph on the jug machine and catch a football with “fresh out of the pot” bacon grease on his hands

Steep challenges, to be sure!

Tyreek took it in stride in his response. While we figure the second challenge won’t happen… the first challenge sounds interesting enough, right?
