Tee Martin college Credit: AllForTennessee

Legendary former college quarterback Tee Martin joined an NFL coaching staff on Wednesday.

The Baltimore Ravens announced that they had hired Martin to be the team’s next quarterbacks coach. Head coach John Harbaugh is making moves and re-assembling his staff as the Ravens prepare for a huge off-season. The Ravens made the announcement on their official Twitter account, along with another announcement.

“We have named Tee Martin quarterbacks coach and Willie Taggart has been hired as the team’s running backs coach,” they tweeted.

After he sent over a decade and a half in the high school and college ranks, Martin has officially made it to an NFL coaching staff. He served under head coach Josh Heupel at his alma mater Tennessee. It was with the Volunteers that Martin won a BCS National Championship with in college in 1998. He is regarded very highly by Vol fans to this day.

Prior to his stop at Tennessee, Martin worked at USC for seven seasons. He also previously worked at Kentucky, New Mexico, and two Atlanta-area high schools. His first job was with an HBCU, Morehouse, as their passing game coordinator in 2006.

This is a pivotal off-season for the Ravens, who need to figure out a way to keep Lamar Jackson aboard. The 2019 NFL MVP is due a new contract and the team could tag him. But they are reportedly far apart on numbers, so it’s plausible the team could trade him if nothing is worked out. Well see if hiring Tee Martin does anything to influence Lamar to stay.
