Deflategate feels like a really annoying rash in a spot you just can’t itch away. Even when it seems like the story is gone for good, it comes back again in just that spot that your hands can’t reach.

The most recent iteration? NFL officials apparently forgot “K-Balls” and pressure gauges for those footballs just before the Kansas City Chiefs – New England Patriots game last Saturday, so they needed to be taken to Gillette Stadium via a police escort, because of course they did.

This from Massachusetts State Police Spokesman David Procopio,

“At approximately 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Massachusetts State police at Logan airport were notified by the Hyatt Hotel on airport property that the officials at Gillette Stadium for that afternoon’s Patriots’ playoff game had left official, specially designated footballs and pressure gauges behind at the hotel. The hotel had been contacted by the NFL after it realized the equipment had been left behind. State Police contacted an NFL security official at Gillette Stadium. NFL security requested State Police assistance in bringing the footballs and gauges to the stadium.”

So to make sure the proper footballs were used and that they were inflated to exact specifications, they received a police escort to make it to Foxborough on time. Just one year after the NFL nearly shut down because of the PSI in a football, they nearly left the sacred and holy “K-Balls” behind at a Boston hotel.

Conspiracy theorists: fire away!
