Typically, when a professional athlete retires from a sport, their athleticism and general level of fitness tend to decrease compared to when they were in their athletic prime. But apparently, that is not the case for Tom Brady.

On Thursday, legendary quarterback Tom Brady decided to try running the 40-yard dash once again at 46 years old and a year removed from retirement to see if he could run faster now than he did at the 2000 NFL Scouting Combine when he clocked a time of 5.28 seconds at 22 years old.

And in a pretty shocking turn of events, he actually did it.

Brady ran the 40-yard dash noticeably faster than he did back then, and he said that he wants to run faster than five seconds next year.

It’s obviously pretty shocking to see Brady moving better at 46 years old than he did when he was preparing for the NFL Draft as a 22-year-old just out of college, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media.

Brady is now retired from the NFL with no plans to return to the field. He is set to join the Fox commentary booth as an analyst next season and is on track to become a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.

But he’s clearly still in great physical shape.
