Tom Brady recently got the NFL world talking after the legendary former quarterback praised San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy.

Brady’s latest episode of his ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast focused on Purdy and his play. The former Mr. Irrelevant hasn’t lost a regular season start since taking over the reins last October for the 49ers. His only loss, in fact, as a starter came in the 2023 NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Many have marveled over Purdy’s play and some believe he’s a surefire NFL MVP candidate this season.

On the podcast, Brady joined those who have praised Purdy’s play. He noted that he believed the former Iowa State Cyclone was “humble” as well.

“[The 49ers are] doing a great job, and I played him last year, and they’ve got a great team,” Brady said on the podcast via NBC Sports Bay Area. “I played on a lot of great teams over the years, too, and what did we do? We controlled the line of scrimmage, we ran the ball well, we stopped the run, they rushed the passer. They’ve been playing with leads, and I give coach [Kyle] Shanahan a lot of credit, too, because he’s done a great job.”

Brady continued on Purdy, saying, “You don’t hear of guys like Brock Purdy until Brock Purdy’s doing amazing things out on the field, so it’s kind of a fun story, and I hope it continues for him because he seems like he’s a really humble young man, and he wants to go out there and do great things. I think the more you have that chip on your shoulder like he does, and there were not quite the expectations, it’s nice to go out there and continue to prove people wrong.”

Brady and Purdy have been connected for their flight paths into the NFL. “Touchdown Tom” of course started off as a sixth-round pick out of Michigan in the 2000 NFL Draft. Those ‘humble beginnings’ ended with him becoming a seven-time Super Bowl champion. Who knows what fate Brock Purdy has, but he’s certainly earning a lot of praise.
