Tom Brady interception

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking on the Seattle Seahawks in Munich, Germany on Sunday and fans have already been able to witness something very few American NFL fans have ever been able to see live. They saw Tom Brady be part of an interception where he wasn’t the quarterback.

The Bucs were up 14-3 in the middle of the third quarter when they decided to break out a little razzle-dazzle. 45-year-old quarterback Tom Brady lined up as a wide receiver and the ball was directly snapped to running back Leonard Fournette. Fournette then launched the ball in Brady’s direction, perhaps assuming that no one would bother covering him. Alas, not only was Tariq Woolen there but Brady slipped and fell before the ball ever got there, resulting in an extremely easy interception.

That probably worked a whole lot better on paper than it did in execution.

All’s well that ends well as Seattle was unable to convert and Tampa currently leads 21-3 as the fourth quarter is underway. Still, we have a feeling that this busted trick play is all anyone is going to remember from the first NFL regular-season game in Germany. And judging by the reactions on Twitter, it looks like the memes are already underway.
