In the Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Green Bay Packers over the weekend, Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes took a big hit on the sideline when he tried to run for a first down late in the game, and legendary quarterback Tom Brady was not happy to see Mahomes put himself in a position to take that hit.
During the latest episode of his Let’s Go! podcast, Tom Brady called out Patrick Mahomes a bit for allowing himself to take a hit like that, pointing out that he thinks Mahomes needs to learn when to get rid of the ball to avoid taking those kinds of hits.
“There was a hit on Patrick Mahomes last night where he was running out of bounds where he wasn’t even out of bounds,” Brady said on the show according to Heavy.com. “Quarterbacks need to learn how to throw the ball away. They need to learn how to read defenses and get the ball out of their hands. I always felt that my best protection was getting rid of the ball.”
It’s obviously notable whenever Brady is critiquing Mahomes’ game, and the NFL world had a lot to say about it on social media as a result.

I disagree with @TomBrady 's recently expressed views on the @NFL, but that hit on Mahomes seems fair to me, since it was shoulder to shoulder & not aimed at Mahomes' head – & inbound. @PatrickMahomes must avoid taking such unnecessary hits though.

Brady obviously learned how to avoid hits like that and it’s what allowed him to play in the league until he turned 45. It sounds like he would like to see Mahomes take a similar approach.
