As everyone focused on Patrick Mahomes and his ankle this week, another prominent Kansas City Chiefs star had his own injury bout. There is some good news for those who bleed red and gold, and they should be seeing their star tight end play Sunday night.

According to James Palmer of the NFL Network, Travis Kelce was listed as questionable but is “expected to play” Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals after suffering back spasms.

Palmer indicated that Kelce had back spasms Thursday and Friday, but Saturday’s walkthrough “went well” and his playing status reportedly improved. Then again, nothing is official until kickoff.

As far as Mahomes is concerned, Palmer said that his high ankle sprain is progressing “better than they expected” throughout this week, but the team realizes he won’t be at 100%. That’s to be expected, Mahomes has an injury that normally takes a few weeks to heal and you can’t do much to speed up the healing process. But I’m sure everyone involved on the KC sideline will live with less mobility if it means their QB can still play.

Last year, the Bengals defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead in the AFC Championship Game to advance to the Super Bowl. The sequel still has the Chiefs as a slight favorite, but KC’s injuries are causing many to think it’ll be another Bengals win.
