On Tuesday afternoon, the New York Jets formally announced the addition of veteran quarterback Trevor Siemian to their practice squad, adding some valuable experience to the position after the brutal injury to Aaron Rodgers to start the season. It’s unclear how much the Jets plan to play Siemian this year, if at all, but New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh made it clear that he won’t be playing this week.
During his press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Jets head coach Robert Saleh revealed that even though New York did add Trevor Siemian to the team this week, he will not be on the active roster for the primetime showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. But Saleh did make it clear that he is a “quick learner.”
“He’s obviously got a lot of games under his belt. He’s a quick learner, a quick study from my understanding. Just giving the ability to come on the practice squad and help us out was the best decision for us,” Saleh said in his press conference according to Pro Football Talk.
The Jets have expressed confidence in moving forward with Zach Wilson as the team’s starting quarterback. It remains unclear if the addition of Siemian changes that. But at the very least, Wilson will get the start once again this week.
