Earlier this month, Trey Lance was notably absent from a basketball game this offseason that was attended by several San Francisco 49ers players, including quarterback Sam Darnold. This led to plenty of speculation about Lance’s standing with the team. But apparently, that shouldn’t be a concern.

During a recent interview, San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk made it clear that despite the curious absence from the team gathering, it wasn’t an intentional exclusion and Trey Lance still very much holds an important place in the San Francisco locker room.

“Trey is beloved in our locker room,” Juszczyk said according to David Bonilla of 49ers Web Zone. “Everybody loves Trey. The dude really does work his [butt] off. He’s super personable. He is a very well-liked guy. So for whatever reason that he wasn’t at the basketball game, it’s not because we don’t like him.”

While there is still a very good chance that Lance ultimately lands with another team before all is said and done with the emergence of Brock Purdy last season, it’s clear that Lance still has plenty of respect within the locker room.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the rest of his career plays out.
