Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is on pace to set some NFL history this season, but he doesn’t sound too concerned about it unless it means that his team is also successful.

So far this season, Tua Tagovailoa has thrown for 1,614 yards for the Miami Dolphins, which puts him on pace for 5,487 passing yards – good enough to surpass the NFL record of 5,477 yards set by Peyton Manning back in 2013. But while Tagovailoa would certainly like to reach this milestone, he also made it pretty clear that the accomplishment would mean “nothing” if it didn’t lead to team success.

“Sure, that would definitely be cool,” Tagovailoa said according to a transcript from the team. “If we don’t get to where we want to as a team, none of that would mean anything to me. But along the way, if we could get to where we want to get to as a team, and those statistics could follow in helping win games, I’d be very happy.”

So far, Tagovailoa’s eye-popping numbers have indeed helped the Dolphins win games as the team currently has a 4-1 record and boasts the best offense in the entire league so far this NFL season. We’ll have to see if they can keep that up.
