Despite being a summer box office hit, the film Sound of Freedom has been pretty controversial, to say the least. The thriller about child trafficking has garnered mixed reviews. The movie focuses on a U.S. government agent who embarks on a mission to rescue children from a Colombian sex trafficking ring.
According to NBC News, the movie which is popular with conservatives and QAnon conspiracy theorists, has drawn mixed reviews because critics say that it “oversimplifies child trafficking.” Additionally, Fabian Marta, one of many individuals who helped fund the movie after being passed on by Disney, was charged last month with accessory to kidnapping according to the Missouri Courts website, via USA Today.
Despite the controversy surrounding the film, that didn’t stop Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa from throwing his support behind Sound of Freedom.

“‘Sound of Freedom’ is good. Yeah, ‘Sound of Freedom’ is definitely really good,” he said.
According to Fox News, Tagovailoa also encouraged members of the Dolphins beat to watch the film, especially those with kids.
“You guys should watch that. Especially you guys with kids,” he said.
Recently, Sound of Freedom director Alejandro Monteverde and co-writer Rod Barr published an opinion piece in The Hollywood Reporter, defending their film against critics who accused it of being “political.” The filmmakers argued that the movie is not about politics, but rather about the human trafficking of children.
Tagovailoa certainly enjoyed the film, though the response he’s received on social media has been a bit mixed.
Miami opens up its season against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 10, and Tagovailoa will be under center for his second full season as the team’s starting quarterback.
