Bill Belichick’s season left a lot to be desired.

OK, so that’s the nicest way to put it.

He finished the Patriots season with a 4-13 record — the worst of his career. It caused the question of his future with the team.

His final game of the season was a, 17-3, loss to the New York Jets. It was a reunion with Aaron Rodgers who spent time with the team on the sidelines as he rehabs an Achilles injury. The two exchanged some words ahead of the matchup.

“I was bummed out not to be playing,” Rodgers said, via The Boston Globe. “I was bummed out that this could be his last time he’s in New England, but none of that came up. We actually talked about a snow game in 2019 at MetLife when the Packers played the Giants. I just think it would be so fun to have a glass of scotch with Bill and talk ball.”

Belichick is reportedly meeting with the Patriots’ ownership this week to see what the next steps are. It’s a different type of meeting as Belichick is also the team’s general manager.

Rodgers said the conversation with Belichick included some of the history their two teams endured.

“I think you realize how difficult it is to have sustained success in the league,” Rodgers said. “If anybody has ever played against him, you know what a great strategist he is. We were talking about the 2014 game, right? Pregame. We were laughing because the strategy was so incredible.

“Bill Belichick will always find little advantages that he’s been able to utilize.”
