Mike Commodore doesn’t like his former Detroit Red Wings coach Mike Babcock. This is a fact. His beef with the current Toronto Maple Leafs coach extends back to when Commodore sparingly played for the Wings in 2011-12 and didn’t see much ice time after he was told the club wanted him. Commodore was and still is bitter about the situation, previously taking to Twitter to compare Babcock to Adolf Hilter while taking countless shots at him.

Those shots returned last night when Commodore started tweeting during the Leafs game against the Red Wings. The retired defenseman was engaging with fans on Twitter and ended up calling Babcock “the biggest piece of shit on earth.” (NSFW)

Commodore must have wisened up through the late hours of the night, as he deleted all of his tweets from the tirade.

It’s not unfair for Commodore to have beef with Babcock, but it’s not a good look to be constantly tweeting about him given how long ago the situation unfolded. If it was one tweet or one night of tweeting, it wouldn’t look so bad, but he’s gone on for months on Twitter about how much he hates him and everybody who cares about the situation gets the point. Babcock has smartly never responded to Commodore’s comments.

It’s all a shame because Commodore’s Twitter account can actually be entertaining (see #PackYourShit). He’s also set to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to support families of fallen members of the Special Operations Forces. It’s a shame his years-old beef is what’s grabbing him headlines – but that’s his own doing.
