Over his career, Wayne Gretzky won nine Hart Trophies for the NHL’s most valuable player, ten Art Ross Trophies for most points in a season, two Conn Smythe Trophies for playoff MVP, and five Lester B. Pearson (now called Ted Lindsay) Awards for most outstanding player according to his fellow players.

Oh, he also became a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame immediately after retiring in 1999 and his nickname is “The Great One.”

But at Wednesday’s Flyers-Capitals playoff game, it appears his wife, Janet, might have forgotten all of that.

While Janet was focused on some you know, playoff hockey, The Great One had something else on his mind.

To make matters more awkward, after Janet looked at her husband who was still puckering up, she still didn’t give him a kiss. Gretzky then turned and tried to laugh it off thinking people may be laughing with him and not at him.

Maybe Gretzky could take some tips from other athletes on how do get some affection when on camera at a game.

Alex Rodriguez didn’t want a kiss, but he did get the popcorn he wanted:

Or fast forward to 1:12, where you can see David Beckham show off his love for his daughter:

But at the same time, Gretzky does share the same failed kiss troubles with lots of athletes. Although sometimes when athletes are shown on kiss cams or TV with their significant others, a kiss isn’t always what they want.

Like when the Chicago Bulls’ mascot, Benny, swooped in for a Boston Celtics fan:

Or when the kiss cam found Shaq and Ernie Johnson:

Oh, by the way, the Flyers won 2-1, but still trail the Capitals in the series 3-1.
