Last month, former NBA superstar and soon-t0-be Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade sent a clear message to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis with his actions, moving his family and his transgender daughter away from the state of Florida due to the anti-LGBTQ policies in the state. And now, he’s sending DeSantis a clear message with his words.

During an appearance at the Met Gala on Monday night, Dwyane Wade conducted an interview where he was asked if he had a message for Ron DeSantis. And it’s safe to say he didn’t hold back in his response.

“I don’t know him. But I do know men lie, women lie, but numbers don’t. I do know that when our children feel accepted – 43% of our children that feel accepted from their parents, from the world – it lowers the death rate,” Wade said. “I’m gonna step on the side of acceptance. I’m not even going to go on the other side. I’m just focused on acceptance.”

“Let’s make sure our kids have an opportunity to live this life that we all get to live,” Wade said. “It starts with our gun safety laws, obviously – we’ve got a lot of work to do there. And in our schools. Also, too, in our community – which is the trans community.”

It’s certainly a bold message from Wade, and the sports world had plenty to say about it on Twitter.

It’s clear that Wade is using his platform to try to spark change.
