Star Wars superfans are in for a treat. Costume company ANOVOS has opened up pre-orders for its latest product: First Order Stormtrooper armor from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
However, customers better be ready to shell out quite a bit of cash. As you might expect, wanting to dress up like an authentic Stormtrooper does not come cheap. ANOVOS is providing two ordering options. You can either order a kit, which means you will have to put the suit together yourself, or you can order the more expensive pre-assembled model. In any event, either purchase will put a good dent in your savings. The former costs $2,225 and the latter will set you back $6,915.
But all is not lost for fans on a budget. You still can order an original Star Wars trilogy Stormtrooper kit for $650.
So why is the New Order Stormtrooper armor so much more pricey? According to ANOVOS, it is considered a “Premier Line” product. The company did not cut any corners developing this suit, and added plenty of upgrades.
“The Premier Line armor kit includes upgrades such as a rotocast rigid foam-filled two-piece detonator, single-piece backplate, improved chest detail via negative-drawn vacuum forming, new forearms and shins, and all new latex gaskets. The updated leather gloves and new boots are sourced from the original manufacturers which produced the screen-used pieces. In combination with the Premier Line First Order Stormtrooper helmet, we are able to provide a complete costume head to toe for the very first time.”
Fans looking to dress up as Star Wars‘ newest villain, Kylo Ren, are also in luck. The same company offers a complete Kylo Ren costume, including a helmet, for just $3,100.
If you want to get your hands on one of these new Stormtrooper suits you will have to act fast. ANOVOS said orders will only be taken until July 31, with the suits expected to start shipping by September.
