With Michael Phelps’ run in the pool ending Saturday, all eyes turned to the sprinters Sunday. This included the marquee track event of the Olympics, the men’s 100-meter dash.
The race turned out to live up to the hype. Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt came from behind to win his third consecutive gold medal in the event, beating out tough competition that included former 100-meter winner and highly controversial U.S. sprinter Justin Gatlin. The win helped cement Bolt’s place in history and provided us with plenty of laugh from Twitter and others on the internet.

It was hard to expect anything but a gold from Bolt in his signature event. It was also easy to expect Twitter users and others to come up with creative responses. And though Bolt’s career might be coming to an end, the internet’s funny reactions has a shelf life that will last for years to come.
