KFC is thinking outside of the bucket with its latest product. The company announced that it will be introducing a new line of edible chicken-flavored nail polish in Hong Kong with two flavors, “Original Recipe” and “Hot & Spicy.”

In the press release, KFC said the limited edition nail polish was created to pay tribute to the “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good” slogan.

“In line with its spirit of innovation, KFC Hong Kong unveils their new ‘Finger Lickin’ Good Edible Nail Polish’ range, keeping the brand literally at their customers’ fingertips while savoring their delicious signature chicken.

This limited edition edible nail polish was created as a tribute to the world famous “It’s Finger Lickin’ Good” slogan.

KFC’s signature flavors — Original Recipe and Hot & Spicy — have been carefully formulated from natural ingredients into edible nail polish and packaged in a stylish glass bottle and minimal box with over gloss details to appeal to young consumers’ love of food and fashion. Simply apply and dry like regular nail polish and then lick — again and again and again to taste why the world’s favourite chicken is Finger Lickin’ Good.”

I get it. The product matches up well with the slogan, but who actually would want to ingest nail polish? If it’s a functional nail polish, I can’t imagine it tastes all that good despite probably being made with the famous KFC mix of herbs and spices. It’s just gross.

Here’s the music video for the product which… again, I don’t understand.

The nail polish line is most likely a PR gimmick to draw up attention, but still, this isn’t a product which should ever been made. Who knows? Maybe it’s as good as a Big Crunch sandwich. Somehow, I’m betting it’s not.
