When the New Power Rangers movie hits theaters in March 2017, it appears that the previous Power Rangers will be a distant memory. This is according to a new interview with a former member of the original Power Rangers.

Walter Jones, who was the black ranger in the original version of the series, said on a recent episode of the Audibly Exquisite podcast that neither he nor his fellow cast members have been invited to appear in the newest version of the Power Rangers.

Here’s what Jones had to say about appearing in the Lionsgate-produced version of the series.

It’s not likely. Unfortunately, we were not invited to be part of the film, which is confusing to me, but I’m excited about the film nevertheless.

The cast members for the new series aren’t likely to excite many fans. The most popular of the group is probably pop singer Becky G. Bryan Cranston has added some star power to the cast. He will play Zordon when the first film debuts next March.

In May, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer spoke very confidently about the newest version of the hit show. He made the claim that this newest version of Power Rangers could result in as many as seven films. Though that seems quite unlikely, it appears that Lionsgate has poured quite a bit of time and resources in trying to make this a successful franchise.

With the newest cast lacking any sort of public knowledge, wouldn’t it make sense to bring back some old faces? But alas, Lionsgate seems pretty adamant that it will be able to be successful on its own. With what we know about this new movies series thus far, it’s hard to imagine that even the first movie will garner much interest.
