Takeoff, one-third of the musical act known as “Migos,” was shot to death during a dice game in a bowling alley in Houston, Texas, on Halloween night.

Details on what led to the shooting are unknown, but TMZ reported on Tuesday morning that police were dispatched to a bowling alley called 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston after five shots were reported. Takeoff, whose real name was Kirsnik Khari Ball, was killed by the shots while two others were injured.

The sports world was quick to react to the premature death of the musical star:

“Senseless killings need to stop. Need to unify. RIP TAKEOFF,” Jake Paul tweeted.

Wilfried Zaha went with a simple tribute.

I remember Takeoff being a very down to earth, cool dude. Cant believe I’m having to say this again about another young black star being killed for no reason, something really has to change in the industry, it’s sickening how easy & often people are dying. RIP Takeoff,” said Chris Eubanks Jr.

“Wait, what?! F—, man,” tweeted Myles Simmons.

“Just sad, hateful sh—… RIP Takeoff,” Sterling Sharp tweeted.

Just reading the Takeoff news. Absolutely sucks. When I first got down to Atlanta the Versace song just started to ring off. Met him in the V103 studios. Couldn’t have been nicer. Talented individual. This is terrible all the way around,” Jason Goff tweeted.

RIP Takeoff. I’m Hurt Over This One,” Chandon Sullivan tweeted.

Takeoff was 28 at the time of his death.
