“Weird” Al Yankovic had a concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Saturday. For those who went, they got a show that included more than just parody songs.
While performing his song “Yoda,” Yankovic gave the floor to Lin-Manuel Miranda, who gave us a cameo appearance and ended up giving us a great duet performance.
As we found out via this performance and some Twitter comments later, Miranda is a big Weird Al fan and professed his love via Twitter.
1) In 9th grade I sat in an upper box of the Beacon with @AlexSarlin & Emily Pinkowitz & we screamed "Yoda!!"
It was @alyankovic's encore.— Lin-Manuel Miranda (@Lin_Manuel) September 25, 2016
2) We truly believed our screams made Yoda happen.
It was, at that point, the best moment of my life.
Today was a VERY close second. pic.twitter.com/aUq9QKDXU2— Lin-Manuel Miranda (@Lin_Manuel) September 25, 2016
Apparently Miranda isn’t the only big-time fan of Yankovic. The parody singer had a photo posted later with a number of Saturday Night Live members. It is still strange to think, however, that Miranda would be a big fan of Weird Al of all people. I guess we can never assume someone’s music taste.
