The rumors surrounding the possible return of a wrestling icon continue to build momentum. Is Bill Goldberg ready to walk down the aisle and tangle inside the ropes once again? Goldberg has seeming been happy with life away from the professional wrestling, but he does not appear to be slamming the door shut on a potential return to face none other than Brock Lesnar.

Good old J.R. helped light the latest rumors surrounding the possibility of a Goldberg-Lesnar match with a mention on Twitter suggesting the two could go at Survivor Series…

In an interview on SportsCenter, Goldberg took a moment to mention kicking Lesnar’s butt again, although specifically in an attempt to push for his upcoming video game appearance. He did, however, suggest there is always the possibility he could get a chance to grapple with Lesnar in real life again, despite his age concerns.

“I’m an old man, here, I’m 49-years-old,” Goldberg said. “A guy like Ric Flair at 49 can go out and do his character, a guy at 49 to go out and do Goldberg again? I don’t know what the odds are. I want the ability to be that guy again, but there’s a compromise there. To be that guy at 49-years-old, do you risk losing your legacy?”

That’s a fair concern for Goldberg, who was one of the top wrestlers in the world of professional wrestling while in the WCW and one of the most anticipated additions to the WWE roster following WWE’s purchase of WCW. It took a while for Goldberg to join the fold, and his stay in the WWE did not last particularly long, but he remained one of the best at what he did, and was always a fan favorite. Even if he came back for one event, odds are it would be a big hit for the fans regardless of the outcome.

“I really want to do it, but is it smart for me to do? Is it something that I’m going to regret? But, you know, who knows?”

There are many examples of professional wrestling stars coming back in their older years, with varying results of course. It also takes some real dedication to get in shape for any one match, especially for a guy who’s been out of the ring for a while.

“There’s a plethora of people that I haven’t had the opportunity to kick their ass yet, so the list would be very long,” Goldberg said when asked who he’d like to work with. Of course, if Goldberg does come back, he’ll want it to be something as big as he is, and few are as big as Lesnar. “But I would be remiss in saying that I don’t owe Brock Lesnar a rematch … I think that if I ever came back, that’d be the match.”

So there you have it. Goldberg wants a piece of Lesnar, again. And we know Lesnar is not one to back down from a challenge.
