12 people were injured (with one in critical condition) at a drag race event in Australia Sunday when a car did sprayed the crowd with burning fuel. This happened during a burnout competition at the Red CentreNATS event in Alice Springs, and the video’s pretty scary. Here it is, from the BBC:

Weirdly enough, though, when CNN later covered the story, they decided to add in some rather dramatic music, such as you’d expect from a newscast opening:

That’s an odd choice for a clip like this. And the story in question is rather serious. Here’s more from the BBC on just what happened:
The car was doing burnouts at the Red CentreNATS competition in Alice Springs when it sent lit fuel into the crowd.
…Eleven of the 12 people treated were taken to hospital. One man, 47, suffered critical injuries.
He was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with burns to about 20% of his body, the Royal Flying Doctor Service said.
Eight people, including the man’s 19-year-old son, remained in a stable condition in hospital on Monday. Two patients had been released.
…Organisers shut down the event following the incident, which is being investigated by police.
Hopefully those involved will recover well. But the way CNN chose to present this video still raises some questions.
