Soccer superstar Lionel Messi dropped a bomb when he announced that he will be coming to the United States and joining Inter Miami of the MLS.
So why is Messi coming to the MLS? Money. According to the Athletic, Messi’s deal was sweetened more when Apple got involved.
“Multiple sources involved in or briefed on the high-level league discussions said earlier this week that MLS and Apple have discussed offering Messi a share of the revenue created by new subscribers to the MLS Season Pass, the league’s streaming package,” wrote The Athletic.
Adidas, who is a huge sponsor of MLS, also sweeten the deal even more.
They have, according to the Athletic, “prepared its own potential arrangement to entice Messi to the United States..a profit-sharing agreement which would involve the player receiving a cut of any increase in Adidas’ profits resulting from his involvement in MLS.”
Apparently, it worked, because he will be headed to Miami. Fans naturally voiced their opinion on the great Messi coming to America.
Reading some replies about Lionel Messi, people are looking at this from too much of an emotional point of view.
Also, he's a grown man. At 35 with a family. These kinds of decisions are often made as a family. People need to wake up. Life isn't "having a legacy on Twitter".

Did Inter Miami offer Lionel Messi a share of the club for him to reject that crazy offer from Saudi Arabia?

Most goals in an MLS season is 34 from Carlos Vela. Most assists is 26 from Carlos Valderrama (!!). So the bar is officially 60 G+A per season for Messi. https://t.co/IeU7WwkxgS

This is absolutely huge for MLS, needless to say. Leo Messi, fresh off the World Cup, still amongst the best around — America’s going to witness something very, very special.

MLS being able to lure the world’s best soccer player to the US is a huge cue especially when he had multiple offers to stay in Europe or join a Saudi Arabian team.
Messi coming to America is like LeBron James playing basketball for a team overseas, in short, this is a big deal.
