Several have been quick to pile on the U.S. Women’s National Team after their early World Cup exit. Add Netherlands soccer star Lineth Beerensteyn to that ever-growing list.

The Dutch star was thrilled to hear that the USWNT exited the World Cup thanks to Sweden. According to ESPN, Beerensteyn’s reaction was quite simple:

“From the first moment I heard they were out, I was just like, ‘Yes! Bye!” she said, according to ESPN. Beerensteyn continued, “From the start of the tournament, they had really big mouths and were already talking about the final.”

The USWNT has come under heavy scrutiny following their World Cup loss. The juggernaut US team won the last two World Cups and sought the first-ever three-peat in World Cup history, men’s or women’s. But they came up short and fell to Sweden in the Knockout Round after a disappointing run through Group play.

Others have fired off remarks towards the USWNT that wouldn’t classify as being on their side. Former U.S. men’s soccer star Alexi Lalas had choice words for the “polarizing” team, while former President Donald Trump has also weighed in.

At least, in this case, this was from another competitor. Trash-talk in sports is both common and fun and helps to liven things up. Don’t expect the USWNT to forget this if they and the Dutch cross paths again in the future.
