World-renowned competitive eater Joey Chestnut caused quite a stir on the 4th of July.
Inclement weather in New York City nearly stymied Chestnut’s quest for another Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest victory. But the determined Chestnut was adamant that he wanted to keep going.
Needless to say, he had people waiting for him. Then the showman knew the moment and delivered with an epic entrance that ESPN captured.

Joey is giving himself to this. To this competition. To this Glizzy. To his legacy. To this world. For all of us.
Joey is sitting here, hungry, open and taking in a handful of Glizzys, for all of this. Goddamn, Joey Chesnuts. This hurts, but respect. https://t.co/ZT8lpj9Btl— JayPal617 (@Hamanicart617) July 4, 2023

Chestnut has made a habit for over a decade of making the 4th of July memorable in his own way. He simply did not take a break from that in 2023. He persisted that he wanted to compete, then he won the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, delivered on an epic entrance, and went viral. That’s a heck of a day.
