Hello and thanks for stopping by. We hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Enough with the pleasantries though, you may be wondering- so what’s the deal with this site?

The Comeback is a sports and pop culture blog. Hopefully we’ll be a good one. A successful one.  One worthy of your time.

The Comeback is the companion site of Awful Announcing, our successful blog covering sports media. Over the years, Awful Announcing grew its coverage, refined its voice, elevated its quality, and grew its stature in the sports media world. It was the most exciting thing I have worked on and the thing we’re all the most proud of.

We found as Awful Announcing grew, we were limited in by the site’s niche focus in what we could write about. After starting a new company specifically to grow Awful Announcing, the decision was made to start a general sports and pop culture blog. So with much of the DNA of Awful Announcing’s voice, here we are at the launch of The Comeback.

A few things to chew on as you mull over the possibility of  following us on Twitter or liking us on Facebook… (Do it! Do it!!!!!)

– We’re a blog. A lot of content ventures start off as “just a blog,” but down the road morph into something else, something larger and less unique and more homogeneous to what’s already there. We want to always be reminded of that as we start, and as we grow. We know this site will evolve, but our reason for starting the site — and the reason we hope you keep coming back — will remain vital to its success.

– We’ve decided that Awful Announcing has developed a unique enough voice and a regular readership that we can hopefully carve out a regular readership who view The Comeback as their lens or one of their preferred lenses looking at sports and pop culture. It will no doubt be a work in progress, but we’re excited at the challenge of providing a consistent fun, thoughtful, and smart take on sports and pop culture.

– We’ve added a lot of folks to our stable of talent both for newsdesk coverage and features. Our aim is to publish ~20 articles a day to the site during the weekdays and about half of that on the weekends.

– Cool Runnings is better than the original Mighty Ducks. This is a fact.

Again we’d love for you to follow us on social media and engage with the site and its writers. If you’re interested in working with us or helping us in some way, please feel free to contact us.  Thank you for reading and please don’t be a stranger.
