Ronda Rousey has asked UFC president Dana White for more time off, and has been granted it. Rousey won’t fight as expected at UFC 200 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in July, according to Yahoo Sports.

Rousey is supposed to star in a remake of “Roadhouse,” and the filming got pushed back. Here’s what White had to say.

“The filming of the movie got pushed back. She could do both, but the question is, should she do both? She could do both, but why should she? The filming is in a time frame where she’d finish before 200, but it would be cutting it too close.”

Holly Holm has a title defense scheduled for UFC 197, which is slated for March 5 against Miesha Tate. White allowed this knowing that Rousey was going to need time off, and didn’t want to keep Holm waiting.

If Tate is able to knock off Holm, the Rousey-Holm rematch will (understandably) lose some meaning, but White told Yahoo he’s willing to take that risk.

Rousey has had a busy past few years with the UFC, and White has no problem giving her all the time she needs.

“The way I look at this one is, Ronda has worked her ass off for us for the last three years,” White said. “She’s been fighting, promoting and building the sport. If anyone deserves the time off, it’s her. What that woman has done is above and beyond what anyone has done. I mean, it’s just unbelievable what she’s done in the last three years.”

“So when she tells me she wants more time, you know what? She’s got it.”

That’s pretty nice backup to have from your boss.
