chef curry

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been known for a little while as Chef Curry, a nickname brought to the world’s attention by Drake and codified in the name of the MVP’s new shoe.

Now, Curry has decided he wants to capitalize on the nickname. The 2015, 2016 NBA MVP has applied for trademarks to Steph Curry, Stephen Curry, Chef Curry, and Curry, according to Darren Heitner of Forbes.

In Curry’s application, Heitner points out, the guard stated that he plans to use the trademarks for various products and services. Some of the ones mentioned are anti-glare visors, board games, leggings, and charitable services.

Don’t “Chef Curry” leggings just sound amazing?

Curry is signed with Under Armour who has already tried to trademark various slogans for Curry related items. They included “The League’s Most Unguardable Player,” “The Game’s New Creative Genius,” and “Fall Back.”

Oddly enough, Curry started this trademark pursuit during the NBA Finals. Records show the four trademark applications were submitted by Curry on June 16th, the same day the Warriors lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road 115-101 in Game 6 of the Finals.

With the four trademarks being reviewed, let’s take a second to come up with some “Chef Curry” themed items, shall we?

1. The Chef Curry Cookbook: If he’s going to trademark a nickname that hints at cooking up some food, Curry is going to need to write a cookbook one day. Some of the recipes in this cookbook may include Draymond Green beans, Stephen Curry Masala, and an exclusive line of The Splash Brothers cocktails.

2. The Chef Curry Chef Hats: These hats wouldn’t be like the big poofy white ones you see on most chefs in movies or, I guess, in real life. Instead, they would be similar to the New Era style hats the NBA sells, but would be designed to look like you have Curry’s hair with a chef hat on top. Not sure how that’s possible, but hey technology is crazy.

3. Steph Curry Basketball Hoop: This relies on technology advancing quite a bit before its initial launch. This hoop is designed in that the only way you can ever make a basket is to be from NBA three-point range. That means it has sensors in it that can tell when and where you shoot the ball from and a mechanical arm will swat the ball away if you are not shooting from three-point range. Okay maybe this is just a robot with a hoop attached and has nothing to do with cooking, but it sounds cool.
