When it comes to Twitter feuds, we’ve seen a lot of weird ones in the past few months.
There was the Eagles and Redskins going at it over Kirk Cousins, Roy Halladay and Roger Clemens squabbling about steroid use and Jim Harbaugh is always there to throw gas on the Twitter fire.
We recently saw one of the stranger Twitter battles unfold. It was between Luke Bowanko, an offensive lineman for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Durham Bulls, the AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The back-and-forth was over the ACC Baseball tournament and its location, the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
It all started with Bowanko complaining to the ACC about the park. Bowanko was cheering on Virginia, his alma mater.
Yo @ACCBaseball what a stupid idea to hold your tournament in a little league ball park
— Luke Bowanko (@Lbow70) May 27, 2016
In the Bulls’ defense the stadium holds 10,000 people and Baseball America ranked it one of the 10 best “Ballparks in the Minors.”
The ACC backed off while the Bulls’ Twitter account went on the offensive.
.@Lbow70 well this 'little league ball park' has seen the postseason more than you guys ever have
— Durham Bulls (@DurhamBulls) May 27, 2016
The Bulls are correct. Durham has won 13 league titles since in the team’s 100-plus year history. Jacksonville, meanwhile, has only made six playoff appearances in its 21-year history. None of those appearances have come since Bowanko was drafted by the Jags in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
But of course, Bowanko couldn’t help but take a shot back at the Bulls.
A couple more favs and you might get called up to run the major league Twitter

The brouhaha quickly came to an end when Durham fired back strong.
.@Lbow70 a couple more wins and you might not be arguing with a Minor League Baseball team on Twitter
— Durham Bulls (@DurhamBulls) May 27, 2016
Bowanko took the jabbing well, thankfully.
Bet y'all can't put getting murdered by a minor league baseball twitter on your resumes pic.twitter.com/NMXUhpXmF7

It was a strange fight but an entertaining one. Hopefully, the Bulls’ effort will allow more minor league teams to stand up for themselves in the future.
