Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s PSG career is over, as expected, after Sunday’s league game against Nantes. The Swedish superstar confirmed the news via Twitter.

PSG also released a statement about his impending departure, noting he’d return in a management role after his career ends.

After discussions between Paris Saint-Germain and Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent, the club and the player have agreed not to renew the player’s contract, which expires on 30 June 2016.
They have also agreed that once his playing career is over, Ibra will join the capital club’s management.

Paris Saint-Germain will remain forever grateful to Zlatan for his four extraordinary seasons at the club that have seen him become the club’s all-time leading scorer and one of its greatest ever players. Ibra has largely contributed to transforming Paris Saint-Germain into one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Initially, Zlatan appeared willing to come back to PSG on a one year contract for his fifth season at the Parc de Princes, but that turned out to not be the case. Zlatan’s next challenge after this will be to help Sweden get out of a difficult group at the Euros, but at 34 he still has some good football in his boots. So where might his future be come August?

A few days ago, Zlatan hinted that he might be open to a return to one of his former clubs, AC Milan, though they’re now under new ownership. Recent rumors have had him linked with LA Galaxy, though it’s unclear how the Galaxy would jump through MLS’s numerous salary and roster hoops in order to sign him.

However, MLS’s front office will probably give them an assist if that is Zlatan’s destination. He’s also spoken of his admiration for the Premier League, a league that he has yet to play in.

ESPNFC noted on Friday that if Zlatan does go to MLS, the Galaxy will be his destination and that the club will likely end up loaning him to a European side until January.

LA Galaxy president Chris Klein declined to comment on Ibrahimovic when contacted by ESPN FC, but one source said should the former Ajax, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus forward reach an agreement with MLS, his destination would indeed be the Galaxy.

But there are rumblings out of Los Angeles that Keane, who turns 36 in July, is mulling retirement after this season. And one source admitted that “it might be possible” for the Galaxy to loan Ibrahimovic to a European team until January, then bring him back to Southern California for the start of the 2017 MLS season.

Whatever the next step is for one of the best striker’s in world football, he’s certainly left a massive mark on French football and PSG.
