When Jeff Nelson woke up in Milwaukee today, he probably didn’t think he would be in the news for doing anything like this.

After a fan blew a condom to make into a balloon during the Cubs-Brewers game, the wind caught said condom and flew onto the field, momentarily pausing play. Nelson, second base umpire for the game, had to go into the outfield and popped the condom. Nelson then tipped his cap to the applauding fans.

It’s a good thing Nelson went out and popped that because the last thing we need is someone suffering an injury because they tripped over a condom. In fairness, it would get us a tremendous amount of page views but not at the expense of someone getting hurt like that.

Anyway, play continued and the dreaded condom balloon didn’t cause any more trouble.
