The Atlanta Hawks held practice at Santa Monica High School on Saturday, as they prepare to play the Lakers on Sunday in Los Angeles. And those high school baskets may not be quite as sturdy as the NBA ones, as shown by how this backboard looked following a Kris Humphries dunk:

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the backboard breaking “momentarily stopped but did not end practice,” as there will other baskets available to use in the gym.

The players also stuck around to throw fastballs at the backboard to make surely it was completely shattered (how thoughtful of them!), as the Hawks’ Malcolm Delaney shared video evidence of on Instagram:

Hump ended practice early today breaking the backboard at Santa Monica high and this what it turned to.. 😂😂

Humphries also posted about the incident on Instagram, saying, “Never had that happen before. Sorry for ending practice early @atlhawks. I’m still washing glass out of my hair.”

The AJC adds that the Hawks will pay for the damage and basket replacement. I doubt that makes the Santa Monica HS janitors much happier, after what had to be a lengthy clean-up.
