The Tulane men’s basketball team didn’t exactly wow anyone last season en route to a 6-25 record. Chances are, their play won’t wow anyone in the upcoming season either. Good news, then, that their basketball court will be bringing the wow factor instead.
Last year, Tulane made the wonderful decision to bring back the beloved “Angry Wave” logo and put it on their football helmets. What’s not to love? It’s an anthropomorphic wave shaking its wavy fist at you. It’s amazing. It also looks like the logo was a hit because Tulane AD Troy Dannen announced via Twitter on Wednesday that the “Angry Wave” is headed to halfcourt as well.

The “Angry Wave” actually dates back to 1964 but was decommissioned in 1998 for some strange reason. When Dannen took over the athletics department in 2015, re-introducing the bitter green logo was at the top of his priority list.
“Just saw it in the hallway, and asked what it was. I thought it was awesome. Then I asked four or five alumni what they thought about this “Angry Wave.” Oh bring that back. So I floated it on social media. In this business you don’t get 100 percent response rate to the sun coming up in the East. To this, it was 100 percent bring that back, we love that.”
When asked which direction the fist will be shaking in, Dannen summoned up his best “They’re all good dogs, Brent” response, perfectly balancing enthusiasm with matter-of-fact-ness.

At least there’s one good reason to watch Tulane basketball this year.
