Shaquem Griffin was born with a rare birth defect that and unfortunately because of it, he lost his left hand at the age of 4.
Griffin was born with amniotic band syndrome, which is a defect that affects less than one out of every thousand babies. Grffin hasn’t let it effect him though. He has overcome adversity and been an inspiring figure for the University of Central Florida.
Lost in all of it though is how good of a player he actually is. Griffin today has three sacks, a fumble recovery and one interception on Saturday, giving him one of the best defensive days of the entire season for any player.

Though Houston came back to beat UCF 31-24, dropping the Knights to 4-4, it was still an incredible day for Griffen.
