The incident is quite bizarre.
KTVU reports Miller tried to check into the Fisherman’s Wharf Marriot Hotel on Sunday but was told no rooms were available. The following morning, Miller knocked on a random guest room door. Something triggered him, as he freaked out and started unpromptedly attacking the guests.
The neighboring guest, the couple’s 29-year-old son, told Miller that he had the wrong room.
That’s when Miller allegedly began attacking him. The man’s father came to his son’s aid, and was also attacked by Miller.
Miller reportedly left the 70-year-old man with unspecified broken bones. Both him and his son were taken to the hospital.
KTVU reports Miller tried to flee the scene but was eventually caught by police and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of making criminal threats and battery. He’s no stranger to law-breaking incidents, as in 2015, Miller was sentenced to court-manded counseling after pleading no contest to misdemeanor domestic violence. Miller was arrested after arguing with his fiancee in a parking garage. He’s said to have broken her cell phone.
The 29-year-old was immediately released by the 49ers. Miller was set to transition to tight end in Chip Kelly’s new offense, although not in a large capacity. The latest incident might be the end of Miller’s career. How many teams would want to take a chance on someone who spontaneously beat up a senior citizen? The attack wasn’t premeditated. This is the NFL, so stranger things have happened – but, Miller might have stamped his ticket out of the league.
