Houston Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson received an unpleasant “Welcome to the NFL” message from Cincinnati Bengals star defensive lineman Geno Atkins on Thursday night.

With just over a minute to go in the first half of Watson’s first NFL start, the Clemson product stepped back to throw, and got absolutely pummeled by Atkins:

Two plays later, Watson faced a 3rd and 15, and incredibly turned it into this awesome 49-yard touchdown run:

Being able to turn a broken 3rd and 15 passing play into a 49-yard rushing touchdown is a special skill, and that incredible athleticism is a big reason why the Texans selected Watson with the 12th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Watson is surely going to have some hiccups in the rookie campaign, but it appears we’ll see flashes of his tremendous talent and potential as well.
