Foo Fighters

So this is how rock stars celebrate Father’s Day. The Foo Fighters played a set in Iceland on Friday, and frontman Dave Grohl brought his 8-year-old daughter onto the stage to play drums as the two rocked out a cover of Queen’s “We Will Rock You.”

But first, Grohl gave his daughter a rousing introduction:

“About two weeks ago, my daughter said, ‘Daddy, I want to play the drums.’ And I said, ‘Okay, you want me to teach you?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ And then I said, ‘Do you want to get up in front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?’ And she said, ‘Yes.’ So ladies and gentleman, welcome the next generation. There’s another Grohl on the drum set now.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Two weeks? And then playing on stage in front of 20,000 vikings? I guess it helps when you have the drummer from one of the great rock bands of all time teaching you.

Although Grohl plays guitar and sings as the frontman for the Foo Fighters, he was the drummer for Nirvana’s two biggest albums in the early 1990s and beat the living crap off those things.

It’s not surprising to see Grohl spending some quality time with his daughter on the road. He’s spoken several times about his dedication as a rock star father.
