Pro wrestling is a lot different when it comes to performing pranks. Maybe it’s all the chair shots or all the traveling with the same people 300 days of the year or something but professional wrestlers really go to the extreme when it comes to pranking someone.

One such instance apparently occurred in the mid-90’s as Sean Waltman (X-Pac) talked about reports that “Big Poppa Pump” Scott Steiner would be joining Impact Wrestling. One thing led to the other and Waltman then shared a story about how Scott’s brother Rick shot him (with a blank) in a WCW locker room.

Waltman: “Don’t get hot at me for liking Scott Steiner. He’s always been really good to me. And It was his brother that shot me in the chest with a … it was like a .45 or .357, with a blank in it.”

Co-host: “When was this?”

Waltman: “In the dressing room in Cobb County Civic Center in Georgia.”

Co-host: “You said it offhand like we’re all supposed to know and be okay with it.”

Waltman: “Oh, I thought because the wad hit me in the chest and burned me and I thought he shot me. It scared the shizz out of me.”

Co-host: “Why did he point a gun at you?”

Waltman: “Because he thought it would be funny. And he laughed and laughed.”

[later in the conversation]

Co-host: “What was the reaction with everyone else in the locker room?”

Waltman: “I’m pretty sure everyone else laughed, too.”

[later in the conversation]

Waltman: “He just pointed it at me and, BOOM. There was no dramatic, like, ‘Don’t move!’ None of that. ‘This is a stickup!’ No it was just, POOM! It’s pretty funny now. It was pretty funny, like, not that long afterwards, too.”

I have a very dark sense of humor but holy crap that is a dark prank. The juxtaposition between Waltman casually reminiscing as if Steiner hid his wrestling boots to the co-hosts being freaked out that everyone in the locker room was laughing when a gun went off in a locker room is something.

Yes, I guess it’s okay to laugh now because it’s been 20 years and nobody got hurt. But man, if you ever thought about doing a dark prank, there’s a pro wrestling division and then there’s everyone else. And those in the non-pro wrestling division can’t and probably shouldn’t compete with the wrestlers.
