Who knew that the WWE could be an effective stepping stone as a platform to run for political office? WWE legend Booker T is the latest to try to go from the squared circle to public service.

At the moment, the WWE is seeing a number of people connected to it involved in politics all over the country. Former tag-team champion Rhyno ran for state representative in Michigan, although his bid fell short in the general election. Linda McMahon will be running Donald Trump’s Small Business Administration and even the President-Elect himself is a WWE Hall of Famer.

Now Hall of Famer and former WCW and WWE champion Booker T is going to throw his hat into the political ring. Booker T made the announcement on SportsRadio 610 in Houston. Here’s his quote via CBS Houston:

“You heard it, 2020 I’m preparing,” Booker said during his radio show. “I’m preparing myself to run for mayor of the city.”

Booker T also sent out this tweet confirming that he’s serious about the run:

Booker T’s ties to Houston run fairly deep, owning a wrestling promotion in the city and hosting a sports talk radio show on the same station in which he made his mayoral bid announcement.

Could Booker T actually win and become mayor of America’s fourth most populous city? He definitely has the charisma and the mic skills to be a serious contender on the campaign trail. And if you’ve followed American politics at all in the last year, we can now definitively say that anything is possible.

Our only request is that if Booker T does win and become mayor of Houston, he immediately goes back to his King Booker character with the robe and funny accent and everything.
